RPIC Real Property Scholarship Program

The submission period for 2018 has closed. We will be opening the 2019 application period in the spring.

About RPIC
The Real Property Institute of Canada (RPIC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional development of the federal real property (RP) community. The Institute’s mission is to promote professionalism and effectiveness of the disciplines of real property management within the federal public sector. RPIC strives to develop and foster a high professional standard of real property management and to provide a forum for information exchange and continuous improvement.

RPIC Scholarships
To support the next generation of federal RP practitioners, the institute has created three bursaries valued at $3,800 each. Each scholarship is comprised of a $3,000 cash award, plus a complimentary registration for the recipient to attend the RPIC Real Property National Workshop (valued at approximately $800).

RPIC University-Level Scholarship
This scholarship shall be awarded to a student enrolled in a university program in a field of study related to real property administration, engineering or management. Applicants must demonstrate a high level of personal commitment and significant interest in the federal real property community (see “Eligibility”).

RPIC College/CÉGEP-Level Scholarship
This scholarship shall be awarded to a student in a college-level or college of general and vocational education (CÉGEP) technical program related to the field of real property or its associated trades. Applicants must demonstrate a high level of personal commitment and significant interest in the federal real property community (see “Eligibility”).

RPIC Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples
This scholarship shall be awarded to an Indigenous person enrolled in an academic program, at any level of study, related to the RP profession. Applicants must demonstrate a high level of personal commitment and significant interest in federal real property community (see “Eligibility”).

Eligibility
For each scholarship, applicants must provide evidence of enrollment in a post-secondary academic institution in a field of study related to real property.

Although not mandatory, applicants should include documentation of any relevant work experience in the field of real property (e.g., accommodation management, trades, RP portfolio management, RP policy, RP-related engineering, architecture, RP project management, realty services, facility operation, management or repair).


Scholarship Application Requirements 

  • Proof of full-time enrollment in a post-secondary program.
  • Letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your federal real property work (e.g., manager or co-worker) and/or other relevant documentation (e.g., awards, bursaries, scholarships received, research, etc.).  

Scholarship Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated for candidates’ interest and commitment to federal real property. Additional judging criteria will be the originality and level of impact of the candidate’s experience and work and his/her demonstrated leadership and vision.

Scholarship application must be received by October 1 of the application year.

Successful applicants will be announced at the Awards and Recognition Evening of the Real Property National Workshop.

 


Definitions

RPIC Scholarship – A non-repayable sum of money awarded to a student formally registered in a post-secondary institution to help finance further education.

College/CÉGEP – A post-secondary institution that offers vocational-oriented programs of study leading to the completion of a technical diploma or certificate in a given field of study.

University – A post-secondary institution that specializes in advanced learning and grants degrees in various faculties.
