2011 RPIC FCS Regional Workshop

Sustainable Remediation in Canada

May 31-June 1, 2011 at the

Holiday Inn Kingston-Waterfront in Kingston, ON

The RPIC Federal Contaminated Sites National Workshop is the leading professional development event for federal and industry environmental professionals involved in the management and remediation of federal contaminated sites.

Following the success of the bi-annual National Workshops in Ottawa, Vancouver and Montreal, a Regional Workshop is being offered in 2011 and will offer a wide variety of opportunities to learn about technical, operational and organizational challenges relating to sustainable remediation, its implementation on federal contaminated sites, as well as new approaches and techniques to address them.

The principles of Sustainable Development (SD) are more and more becoming an integral part of decision-making processes in the field of Environmental Site Remediation. In fact, there is a rising trend that has been observed worldwide in recent years: to give more consideration to global impacts of rehabilitation projects and to reduce their negative impacts. The integration of SD principles in rehabilitation projects is aimed at ensuring that the impacts of the rehabilitation work are not greater than the impacts caused by the contamination which these projects seek to eliminate or mitigate.

This Workshop will feature dynamic presentations on sustainable remediation, including a showcase of success stories, the sharing of best practices and the introduction of applicable technical innovations, plenary sessions, keynotes, a networking event and a trade show and will foster networking with event partners, government representatives, academic researchers and private sector firms.

At the gateway to the 1,000 Islands and the UNESCO designated Rideau Canal, Kingston is a city rich in history, culture, critically acclaimed attractions and cuisine. We are delighted to be hosting the 2011 Regional Workshop there and we hope that you will join us in making the first ever RPIC Federal Contaminated Sites Regional Workshop a success.

See you in Kingston!
