Explore workplace transformation ideas at the 2019 Forum on the Workplace



The Forum program is designed to provide clarity around critical workplace issues in the federal Real Property community and will focus on the latest developments, trends and best practices in workplace management.

The Real Property Institute of Canada (RPIC) and the Forum on the Workplace Planning Committee invites you to submit presentations in, but not limited to the following topics:

Anticipate that Change Happens – They Keep Moving My Workplace

  • What does the modern workplace look like?
  • Special purpose facility modernization (science, secure, etc.)
  • Setting Policy
  • Lessons Learned
  • Provincial, Municipal and Private sector experiences

Monitor and Adapt – Smell Your Workplace Often So You Know When it’s Getting Old

  • Measuring productivity and value in the ABW world
  • Managing space in an agile work environment
  • Human Resource considerations
  • How does management style influence the workplace?
  • Managing conflict and disruption in the new workplace
  • Managing multi-generational workforces
  • Green and/or innovative procurement

Change Management – Move with the Workplace

  • User experiences in the new Workplace
  • Technology enablers in the Workplace for the Workplace and for the User
  • The important role of change management with ABW
  • Keeping a focus on Health and Wellness
  • Best Practices

Presentation proposal submissions should be no more than 500 words and must include a presentation objective and biographies for all presenters. The presentation proposal may be submitted in English or French and must be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. All final accepted presentation proposals crediting federal government employee authors must be submitted in English and French. The translation is to be submitted following the acceptance of the proposal into the program.

Guidelines for submission:
All presentation proposal submissions must be completed using the PDF submission form. Presentations will be selected for inclusion in the preliminary program on the basis of a peer review by a panel of experts.

Final presentations are to be submitted as a PowerPoint file that is l0 MB or less. The Forum presentations will be made available on the RPIC website (www.rpic-ibic.ca) following the Forum.

Initial presentation proposal submissions may be submitted in English or French. All final accepted presentation titles, objectives, descriptions and speaker biographies, as well as PowerPoint presentations crediting federal government employee authors must be submitted in English and French. The translated presentation title, objective, description and speaker biographies are due two weeks after the confirmation of acceptance into the program.

All presenters are required to register for the Workshop by March 15, 2019. One discounted delegate registration ($375 + HST) will be made available for each accepted presentation. Additional presenters will be required to register at the full rate ($750 + HST). The discounted registration can only be claimed by filling out the PDF registration form and returning it to This email address is being protected from spambots.
