Key Update from RPIC’s Annual General Meeting: Revised Bylaws Approved
On December 11, 2024, at the RPIC Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors approved critical updates to the 2020 bylaws, aligning them with the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act.
Here’s What’s New:
- Date of the Annual General Meeting: Going forward, the Annual General Meeting will be held in June.
- Smaller, Streamlined Board and Inclusive Election of Members: The maximum size of the Board has been reduced. Members from all sectors—including federal, private, other levels of government, and academia—will now be elected annually for two-year terms, with a maximum tenure of six years.
- Federal Public Service Representation: The requirement that the majority of board members be from the federal public service remains unchanged.
- Expanded Role for the Executive Director: RPIC’s Executive Director is now officially designated as an Officer of the Board and will assume the responsibilities of the Secretary.
These changes mark a new era for RPIC, ensuring robust governance and inclusivity. Have questions? Reach out to the RPIC Secretariat for more details.
